Huaneng Power International, Inc. (the "Company") develops, constructs, operates and manages large thermal power plants in China nationwide. The Company is one of the largest independent power producer in China with a current total generation capacity of 14,780 MW. On equity basis.

The Company was incorporated on 30th June, 1994 and completed its initial public offering of 1,250,000,000 overseas listed foreign shares ("foreign shares") on 5th October, 1994. Such shares, represented by 31,250,000 American Depository Shares ("ADS"), were listed on the New York Stock Exchange (Ticker Symbol:HNP).

On 21st January, 1998, the foreign shares of the Company were listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited by way of introduction (Stock Code:902). Subsequently, the Company successfully completed the global placement of 250,000,000 foreign shares along with a private placement of 400,000,000 domestic shares to its parent company, Huaneng International Power Development Corporation ("HIPDC") on 4th March, 1998. On November 15th and 16th, 2001, the Company successfully issued 350 million A Shares domestically, of which not more than 250 million shares were issued to strategic investors and securities investment funds as well as the public respectively by way of off-line and on-line subscription. In the mean time, 100 million legal person shares were placed to Huaneng International Power Development Corporation (HIPDC) with same pricing. On December 6th, 2001, the Company’s A Shares began trading on Shanghai Stock Exchange under stock code: 600011.The total issued share capital of the Company is currently 6,000,273,960 shares.

During the last few years, the Company has been continuously expanded the scale of its operations and increased its profitability through project development and asset acquisitions. The total generation capacity has increased from 2,900 MW to 14,780 MW. At present, the Company wholly owns 13 power plants, has controlling interest in 3 power plants, minority interest in 3 power plants, all of which are highly advanced., efficient and reliable. These power plants are located in 7 provinces and 1 municipality along China's economically vibrant east coast.
