China Coal Energy Company Limited (China Coal Energy), a joint stock limited company with a registered capital of RMB 8 billion, was exclusively initiated by China National Coal Group Corporation (ChinaCoal) on August 22, 2006. China Coal Energy was successfully listed on main board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (stock code “1898”) on December 19, 2006.

ChinaCoal had injected into China Coal Energy, its restructured assets of coal production, sales and trading, coking operation, coal mining equipment manufacturing, coal mine design and related engineering services etc.

China Coal Energy, with coal production and trading as its core business, is a good-sized coal conglomerate company with a broad variety of businesses in coal coking, coal mining equipment manufacturing, and coal mine design. By the end of 2006, its rich coal reserves rank No. 5 among all the listed coal enterprises in the world and No. 2 in China. It also enjoys, in China, the title of the second largest coal enterprise, the biggest coal exporter, one of the biggest independent coking enterprises, and the largest manufacturer of coal mining equipment.
