BANK OF COMMUNICATIONS
Profil
Founded in 1908, Bank of Communications is one of the banks with the longest history in China. Having restructured in 1987, the bank emerged as the first joint stock commercial bank in China after the reform and opening-up of the country.
Being the first China commercial bank to accomplish financial restructuring in 2004, the asset quality and capital adequacy ratio of Bank of Communications stood at the leading position among domestic peers. With the introduction of HSBC as a strategic cooperation partner in the same year, the pace of restructuring and reorganization in accordance with international standards had been accelerated. Through concerted efforts in improving corporate governance, organizational structure and risk management, the bank's operational revenues increased continuously. This strengthens the growing momentum in the years ahead.
Having listed onto the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in June 2005, Bank of Communications became the first mainland commercial bank listed in Hong Kong. This portended that the bank has moved a great step towards the goal of becoming a world-class financial corporation.
Today, Bank of Communications has a vast network of branches and sub-branches in 137 major cities in China. Apart from Hong Kong, the bank has established overseas branches in New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Seoul and representative offices in London and Frankfurt.
